My goal in starting Spark Engagement was simple: to help people live intentional and thriving lives. Because work plays such a significant role in overall wellbeing - and leaders have one of the greatest influences on how people experience work - I believe supporting leaders is one of the most powerful ways to positively impact people while also benefitting the organizations they work for.
Throughout my career, I experienced both the rewards and challenges of leading people. I saw firsthand how leadership impacts engagement, wellbeing, trust, team culture, and organizational success, but I also experienced the stress and burnout that can happen when leaders are expected to give more of themselves without the strategies or support needed to sustain their own wellbeing. Once I discovered the right tools and strategies, however, leadership became a healthier, more meaningful, and more effective experience - for me and the people I led. These components of strong leadership are what I personally use and teach in my work today: a combination of emotional intelligence and practical leadership strategies.
Discovering and learning to use my own strengths while becoming a CliftonStrengths coach was the catalyst for sparking my emotional intelligence journey and was a turning point in how I approached leadership, wellbeing, and personal growth. Spark Engagement was created from that experience and from a desire to help leaders and organizations benefit from the same kind of self-awareness and intentional leadership development that changed my own life.
Over time, I also came to recognize that work and personal life are deeply interconnected. When organizations support people as whole human beings - not just employees - it creates healthier workplaces, stronger cultures, and overall organizational success. People do their best work and are able to thrive both personally and professionally when they feel they belong and are supported, valued, and respected. That belief continues to shape how I approach my work, recognizing that every person I work with brings their own experiences, strengths, challenges, goals, and life outside of work into the workplace each day.
Today, I partner with leaders and organizations to develop emotionally intelligent and effective people leaders - combining strengths-based development, emotional intelligence, employee engagement, and wellbeing into one integrated leadership journey.
Finding my spark brought me here. I built Spark Engagement because I believe every leader deserves the same - and because when leaders thrive, the people around them do too.
